Sand Point Antique & Design Market August 2009

“Did you do good?” Dennis asked? “No!’ the dealer answered. “I did sensationally good.”

At 8 am the doors opened to the Early Buyers; not only were the buyers buying, they were in a buyer’s mood. Objects disappeared from dealer’s shelves as with blinding speed. Cart loads upon cart loads left the show with a buyer attached to the cart’s handle. “It’s like magic.” one buyer commented after she caught her breath. “I have never seen such displays as are here.” Another buyer quipped: “You are going to continue this show, aren’t you?” and then added: “I have bought such wonderful prices.” Another buyer added: “I love this show; I can’t wait for the Christmas Show.”

From a promoter’s stand this show was one of perfect dimensions. Everything came together in precise order and so many booths were so sensational, one barely knows how to start describing them...

Retreat by KENNEDY|Kennedy Design has masterly merged black and white and grays together. Their Swedish-style booth was just wonderful, and the unique furnishings they create left with happy new owners, as did smalls and lamps.

Debi Burton had a double booth filled to overflowing with knickknacks, garden art and what have you, all appealing in design and décor usages. I watched as objects left her booth and she scurried over to fill the vacant spot with two, three or more items as she built each new diorama.

DeWayne Lumpkin came to us after the Seattle Gift Show. This was his first time at Sand Point, I do not think it will be the last Market he does with up. He had these great vintage United Kingdom graphic bus rolls fresh from England; these are route signs from trolleys and double-decker buses in the UK. You can visit his works at: DeWayne's portfolio: http://www.coroflot.com/public/individual_details.asp?individual_id=188026

Susan Wheeler (we have not seen her for some time) shared three booths with DeWayne. As always Susan sets a fine table. She purchased a great folk art battleship. It was the find of the year (See photos below).

Julie Whinihan was back with her nearly Victorian style booth. Julie is the one with all of the Victorian ladies high top button boots.

Jerry Agbayani brought four delightful clocks, one dating from before the Civil War and two decorative Victorian kitchen clocks. Another clock he brought has a clock face illustrated in Arabic. His clocks all sold early in the show.

Other dealers who attended the Sand Point Antique & Design Market as sellers were: Bob and John from Cool Junk, Wayne Anderson, Bobbie Maine Lensch from Bobbie & Chuck’s Farm, Dawn Oscar, Trudy Mc Cleary, Linda from LuLu's, and Jo Marie Richmon was a first time seller. She makes these delightful little skirts out of vintage fabrics.

In closing this view of the Sand Point Antique & Design Market for August 30, 2009 I want to thank all of the buyers and all of the dealers who got together in perfect harmony in the best show and sale we have had in two years.
